Scope of Program:
The University of Connecticut's Communication Design concentration takes traditional graphic design to an entirely new level, integrating new technologies and business know-how with a solid foundation in design principles and practices. Communication Design and Illustration concentration students take common core courses in drawing, studio concepts, criticism and interpretation and art history. Communication Design students focus on design studies, digital media and design process. A senior project is required. Illustration students concentrate on life drawing, design process, digital media, aquamedia and figure drawing as well as a senior project.
A portfolio is required for admission to the University of Connecticut's Art Department. Incoming freshmen at UConn's Storrs campus are guaranteed housing for their first year. Merit scholarships are available. Students from Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont may be eligible for reduced tuition via the New England Regional Student Program.
