The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts houses the Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film. The program has eight areas of focus including Computer Animation, Visual Effects, New Media Design, Directing, Producing, Screenwriting, Post-Production, and Film and Digital Video Production. All students have access to the Digital Arts Initiative, which the school says is spearheaded by the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, and is a collaborative effort among faculty from the Department of Art and Art History, the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, and the Glenn Korff School of Music. The Initiative provides interested students from all majors hands-on experience applying current technology to the arts.
Graduates of the BFA in FNM at UNL are prepared to seek careers as Animators, Digital Artists, Cinematographers, Producers, Screenwriters, Production Designers, and many others.
