Scope of Program:
Freshmen at Bloomfield College begin as pre-CATS majors. After completing three CAT courses, they may apply to the major and select a concentration. An essay, interview and portfolio are required with the application to the major.
Animation students complete coursework in computer art, time-based art, interactive Flash design, 2D animation drawing, visual design, editing, stop-motion, and web design. All students complete an internship and capstone project. Digital Video students focus on music technology, screenwriting, video and animation, visual effects, video production, sound design, 3D modeling and animation. All students complete a capstone project.
Game Development majors may choose the Game Design or Game Programming track. Students in both tracks concentrate on game design, illustration and graphic design for games, game design methodology and visual design. Game Design track students specialize in computer imaging, group game projects, level design, 3D modeling and animation and visual effects. Game Programming track students focus on game programming, C++, data structures, system analysis and design, database management, game projects and artificial intelligence.
Graphics for Print and Digital Media majors focus on computer art, time-based media, multimedia, digital and analog design, computer imaging, typography, business of graphics and 3D modeling. All students complete an internship and capstone project. Interactive Multimedia majors concentrate on music technology, game design, sound design, Flash design, web design, editing, drawing for 2D animation, visual effects, video production and pre-production. All students complete an internship and capstone project.
